CUTE SQUIRREL COASTER CROCHET PATTERN

  • DK weight cotton yarn
    • Brown (body)

📋 Pattern Instructions

BODY

Worked with double strand and 3.5 mm hook. Worked in continuous rounds. Do not join.

R1: MR, 10 sc. (10)
R2: Inc in each st around. (20)
R3: (sc, inc) ×10. (30)
R4: (sc, inc, sc) ×10. (40)

The piece should now form a flat circle.

R5: Work reverse sc (crab stitch) evenly around the entire edge to create a firm border.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

HEAD

Worked in continuous rounds.

R1: MR, 6 sc. (6)
R2: Inc ×6. (12)
R3: (Sc, inc) ×6. (18)
R4: (2 sc, inc) ×6. (24)
R5: (3 sc, inc) ×6. (30)
R6: (2 sc, inc, 2 sc) ×6. (36)
R7–9: Sc around. (36)

Do not fasten off. Flatten the piece.

R10: Working through both layers, sc 10 sts across to close the bottom.
(13 sts remain unworked on each side.)
Now work along the 10 sts just created to shape the snout:
R11: Dec, 3 sc, dec, 3 sc, dec. (7)
R12: Dec, 2 sc, dec, 2 sc. (5)
R13: Dec ×3. (2)

Fasten off. Pull yarn through remaining sts and close tightly.

Lightly stuff before fully closing if dimension is desired.

EYES make 2

R1: MR, 6 sc. (6)
R2: Inc ×6. (12)
R3–4: Sc around. (12)
R5: Sc in BLO around. (12)
R6: Sc around. (12)
R7: Dec ×6. (6)

Insert safety eyes or embroider pupils before closing.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

EARS make 2

Ch 2.
Work into first ch: (sc, ch 2, sl st, ch 2, sl st).

Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

ARMS / FEET make 4

Ch 8.
Starting in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next 3 sts.
Ch 4.
Starting in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next 3 ch.
Ch 4.
Starting in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next 3 ch.

Work 4 sc evenly along the bottom of the foundation chain.

Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

TAIL

Cut multiple strands of yarn.
Attach to top center of body.
Trim to desired length.

🧵 Assembly

• Sew head to the lower portion of the body circle.
• Sew eyes onto head.
• Sew ears above the eyes.
• Sew arms/feet evenly around the body circle.
• Embroider small teeth if desired.
